Cowl panel scuttle (жабо) — removal

The cowl panel/scuttle trim under the windshield (жабо, holds the wiper arms area and windshield-washer plumbing) comes off easily and quickly — about 5 minutes for the full removal. Procedure: (1) disconnect the windshield-washer hoses; (2) open the hood; (3) remove the plastic clips/pistons ("пистоны") from the top of the panel; (4) pull the panel down, then upward, to release it — check that it clears the lower spoiler area around the windshield base (one owner was not able to fully free this part); (5) disconnect the washer tubing on the left side — use caution, this tube is difficult to recover if it drops down into the body cavity; if lost, use a phone camera to help locate it ¹²³.
