Some advice here concerns sub-zero winters and is less relevant in a hot climate.
Brake dust creates rust-colored iron-oxide particles that land on the paint and "bloom"/stain it from the outside — especially visible on white cars. First-time owners are often surprised by how bad it looks 1.
Routine cleaning: use an iron-oxide/tar remover spray — e.g. Grass Disk Cleaner Super, 600 ml, ~471 RUB (RU market, March 2025) — once a year, typically after winter. This is described as sufficient for normal buildup 123. A cheaper household alternative some owners use successfully is toilet-bowl cleaner ("Туалетный утёнок") applied as a chemical cleaner rather than physical scrubbing; avoid alcohol-based cleaning, which doesn't work as well 45.
For persistent/stubborn spots — rust converter: a stronger option is a rust-converter product (e.g. Zinkary, ~500 ml for ~471 RUB on Ozon, RU market, March 2025). Apply with gloves and a cotton swab, spot-treating only the affected areas — first degrease and dry the surface, then apply the converter/ lacquer, then wipe carefully. Work in dry, warm weather 36.
Safety warning — rust converter can damage paint if misapplied: one owner reported using a rust converter under the chrome trim on the hood of a previous car, then driving — airflow blew the still-wet liquid out from under the trim, and it left corrosive streaks running down the hood to the windshield and onto the trunk, eating into the clear coat/paint. Avoid contact with chrome trim and other delicate surfaces, and make sure the product is fully dry/cured before driving, especially near trim edges where wind can carry residual liquid 7891011.
