Some advice here concerns sub-zero winters and is less relevant in a hot climate.
OEM part numbers and critical dimension
FAW OEM front brake pad part numbers reported: B5CA03328ZAKAT1 and B5CA03328ZA2 (community reports both codes for what appears to be the same/related OEM pad family — treat as OEM front pad regardless of the exact suffix).
Community-verified critical dimension is the upper mounting hole width: - OEM base dimension: 133.1 mm3, also documented at 133.3 mm ± 0.1 mm in a technical comparison of several brands.4 - Official OEM drawing dimensions: 133.4 mm width × 56.6 mm height × 17 mm thickness (×2 shims).2 - Pads shorter than ~133 mm cause detectable play/rattle; do not use pads under this width.3 - Thicker (135 mm) or thinner (132 mm) pads than spec require mechanical forcing to fit and reduce pad lifespan.4
Confirmed OEM-fitment compatibility: Mazda 6 Gen 1 (GG hatchback, GY station wagon, GG sedan) shares the front pad footprint with X80.2
Preference note: several owners say OEM pads give better durability and more consistent quality than aftermarket, resulting in less wear on the discs, though aftermarket alternatives exist and work.2
Noise comparison for OEM vs. aftermarket sourcing channel: OEM pads bought via OZON showed no squeaking after 20,000 km; pads bought from AliExpress squealed initially for the first ~1,000 km, then the noise resolved. Both are reported as functionally adequate for normal driving once past any break-in noise.56
Mazda-pad width mismatch — conflicting field reports (conflict)
Multiple owners confirm the critical 133.1 mm upper-mounting-ear width (consistent with the dimension notes above) and warn that Mazda-sourced pads, including Zekkert brand, typically measure 129–130 mm — a ~4 mm shortfall that creates play in the caliper bore, producing a knocking/rattling noise under braking. This is flagged as a safety concern, not just a cosmetic annoyance — the 4 mm gap looks small but is enough to cause detectable play. Mytishchi-brand pads are confirmed to fit at the correct width. Conflict: some owners report Zekkert or other Mazda-sourced pads working fine with no issues, while others measure and report them as 129 mm vs. the needed 133.1 mm, causing caliper play and unsafe knocking. The measurements themselves are not disputed — the disagreement is over whether the resulting play is perceptible/acceptable in practice; owners reporting "no problem" may not have detected the play, or may be accepting the risk unknowingly.789101112131415
Zekkert (Germany-branded) pads specifically measure 129 mm at the bore against the X80's 133.1 mm requirement — a confirmed 4 mm gap causing severe caliper play/clunking; one owner tested a set and removed it immediately. A Yandex Market listing for nominally the same product had the identical undersizing issue. Zekkert is not recommended for the X80 front axle. Conflict: an owner initially reported a Zekkert set from Yandex Market with no squeaks, but later analysis of the same pad line showed it undersized for the X80 — the early positive impression did not catch the dimensional problem.1617
Masuma-brand pads measure 130 mm at the bore, versus the 133.1 mm the X80 needs — dimensions confirmed by the seller directly. One owner drove 25,000–30,000 km on Masuma pads before symptoms appeared: squeaking, chirping, and clunking in the caliper, worsening after a disc cleaning.181920
Budget pads with the correct 133.1 mm bore sizing do exist, around 600 RUB (RU market, March 2024); several owners report using them with no squeaking. The catch is sourcing them: most budget listings (Zekkert, Masuma among them) are actually sized for Mazda (129–130 mm) and mislabeled/sold as "X80-compatible" regardless. Practical workaround: request exact bore measurements from the seller before ordering rather than trusting the listing title.2122
Front pad price point (April 2024)
Front brake pads were available for roughly 5,000 RUB per pair via Ozon in April 2024 (RU market); pricing varies by brand and can run lower through bulk/specialist suppliers such as chinaspare.ru.2324
Front/rear pricing round-up (Aug 2024)
Front UIDNU YD52002 pads (see below), installed via Ozon, reconfirmed with no noise and no dust. A specific local-supplier price point: rear pads (see the rear-brake-pads card) around 650–700 RUB (RU market, Aug 2024). Alternative sourcing channel for discounted FAW parts: the ooove.ru catalog.25262728
Mazda cross-compatibility (non-OEM sourcing)
- Mazda 6 (GH generation) front pads fit X80 fronts with slight modification — one owner had to shave ~1 mm off the pad to fit. BMTEIL and SLNS brand pads (for the GH fitment) documented as suitable, ~2,000 RUB (RU market, March 2025 price).29303132333435 Separately, another owner using unspecified Mazda 6 (1st-gen) cross-fit front pads reported an imperfect fit with a ~4 mm gap, while the matching rear pads from the same Mazda 6 1st-gen family fit fine — front and rear fitment tolerance is not identical, so check front fitment carefully even when the rear cross-reference is confirmed.363738
- Mazda GK0655 cross-reference pad: retail price 2,268 RUB (Avito, RU market, Nov 2024). Technical dimensions from the listing diagram: 131.3 mm outer width, 118.8 mm inner width, 15.5 mm thickness, 8.4 mm mounting-boss diameter, with upper mounting holes slightly undersized ("hole size 1-2") versus some aftermarket alternatives; lower mounting has solid contact.3940
- General fitment rule for undersized upper holes: if the caliper bracket shows no lateral play/movement, undersized-hole pads will still fit and function adequately with unaffected friction performance. If there is play/movement in the caliper mounting, choose pads with tighter hole tolerances instead.40
Brand/part options reported in the community
- KORWIN KWBP0119 — fits X80 2014–2016+ models; suitable replacement.414243444546 Avoid TEMB-brand pads — reported as squeaky and poor quality.46
- Hi-Q 133.3mm pads — compatible with the X80 facelift when the pad shape and ear configuration match the OEM design (see dimension rules above).3474849505152 Hi-Q pads ship with springs and anti-squeal plates included.5354
- NiBK PN8009 — offered by online retailers as a cross-brand alternative.55
- Hi-Q SP2449 — installed successfully by one owner with no knock noise.5657 (Note: SP2449 is also referenced elsewhere in the community as a brake disc option — see the front-brake-discs card. Verify product category before ordering.)
- Other brands mentioned as suitable in a technical comparison: Comi One, Sasgsin (sic), Trialli, NIBK — all reported workable for X80 front brakes, subject to the 133.3 mm ± 0.1 mm dimension rule.4585960
- Front pad set (including restyled version) sold on Ozon: one owner reported 500 km with no squeaking, notable given how many owners report squeaking with other pads.61
- Cheaper no-name pads sometimes lack the anti-squeal friction material/shim that Hi-Q and OEM pads include, requiring separate installation of a shim.55
Restyle vs pre-restyle
Restyle (facelift) front pads are longer than pre-restyle pads. Part numbers differ between the two generations; mounting locations are identical, but pad length differs, so pads must be selected for the correct model year.6263
Fitment problems and troubleshooting
- Counterfeit / mis-dimensioned "OEM" pads: pads sold as OEM-spec from online retailers can be counterfeit or wrong-dimension. Clone pads have been found up to 2 mm off the correct 133.3 mm thickness, causing rattling. Accurate 133.3 mm dimension is critical for fitment without modification.646566
- Caliper grinding/rattling under braking is often caused by undersized pads (reported ~2 mm shorter than the original 133.1 mm spec) — e.g. Mazda B50 pads fit the caliper but are too short. Fixes: (1) verify correct OEM pad dimensions before buying; (2) shim/weld the pad retention ears; (3) add anti-squeal shims (often missing on aftermarket pads); (4) use verified-fit pads such as Hi-Q 131.7 mm or Masuma (Masuma needs shimming). There is some debate over whether guide-pin wear or pad dimension is the primary cause of this noise — likely both contribute.67686970717273
- Reconfirmed field pattern (Sep 2024): the upper mounting holes specifically require 133.1 mm pads; the remaining mounting points are Mazda-compatible (129–130 mm), which is why partial cross-fit pads rattle only at the top ears. Two fixes reported: (1) source Mazda 6 discs and calipers together as a combined alternative (see the front-brake-discs card); or (2) find correct 133.1 mm pads specifically sized for the upper holes and verify fit at the remaining mounting points before finalizing the swap.74757677
Additional sourcing and pricing reports (2025–2026)
- AliExpress: original factory front+rear pad assembly listed at 2,289 RUB (RU market, June 2025); one owner bought 2 sets (~6,000 RUB total) via SDEK courier from China, ~3 weeks delivery, working well with no noise or squealing.7879808182
- OEM front pads for the restyled model: 2,850 RUB (RU market, Jan 2026; on sale; normal price higher) — verified to match all dimensions without modification.8384858687
- Part B5CA03328ZAP1 (a variant of the OEM number above): fits correctly, no squeak, good price/quality; may feel slightly soft when first installed, improving after break-in.8889 Independently reconfirmed from a second community group: front pad part B5CA03328ZAP1, available on the Ozon online store.90
- Restyled-model 133 mm front pads ordered on trial for ~950 RUB (RU market, Oct 2025).91
- B5CA03328ZA article number reconfirmed by another owner buying from a Chinese-parts storefront; a Mazda 6 II pad (GSYD3323ZA) was floated as a possible cross-reference based on shared platform, but fitment was not confirmed.92939495
- Restyled-model front pads are reported to have different specification/part number than pre-restyle (consistent with the Restyle vs pre-restyle section above); always confirm model year before ordering.9697
Mytishchi-factory pads — fitment note (Apr 2024)
Independent of the noise complaints tracked on the brake-pad-noise-quality card, one owner documented the fitment specifics of Mytishchi-factory pads: they fit the X80 correctly by mounting dimensions — no rattle or movement on the rotor — but their friction contact-patch area is noticeably smaller than the OEM pad. A follow-up question in the same thread asked whether a photo showed warped rotors or just a camera angle artifact; it was clarified that the effect was uneven pad surface wear (a hollow/dished pattern across the pad face), not a disc problem.9899100101102
NISSHINBO, Hi-Q SP2449, TRIALLI, COMI ONE — brand field reports (2025–2026)
- NISSHINBO ND5014 pads failed quickly, developing a wavy wear profile; NK 203268 mentioned as an alternative. General guidance from this thread: mid-range-to-slightly-above-average pricing is recommended over the cheapest option.103104105106107108
- Hi-Q SP2449 front pads: one owner reported squeaking for about 2 months during break-in, installed on old worn discs in summer, noise resolving in winter; installing new pads on new (not worn) discs is recommended to avoid this and to prevent disc damage from an already-worn old pad.109110111112113
- Separately, Hi-Q SP2449 performed with no squeak through 8,000 km including mountain-pass driving; purchased at 2,100 RUB (Emex) or 1,600 RUB (Ozon) (RU market, Sept 2025) — same product, different channel.114115116
- Original front discs were reported to last to 255,000 km; the same owner asked the community for further field reviews specifically on the Hi-Q SP2449 pad's own durability (open question, not yet answered).117118
- TRIALLI PF 2348 front pads: confirmed fitment on the restyled (2014+) model, sourced from Yandex Market and Ozon, reported as normal quality with no fitment issues by several independent owners.119120121122123124125126127128129130131
- COMI ONE (equivalent to model C5Z7971) front pads: match the restyled (2018+) fitment exactly and do not squeak after proper bedding-in.132
- One owner's compiled brand list for 133.2–133.4 mm front pads: Sangsin Brake SP2449 (Hi-Q), Comi One P114, Trialli PF 2348, NIBK PN8009 — dimension reconfirmed at 133.2–133.4 mm.133134
Mazda GG sub-generation caution (unconfirmed detail)
One thread notes the Mazda 6 GG family spans three sub-generations (I, II, III) with inconsistent cross-fit reports between them — a report that "Mazda GG pads fit" should specify which GG sub-generation, since compatibility is not uniform across all three.135136
Anti-rattle mounting clips
Metal spring clips pre-tension the front pads against the caliper to prevent rattling/clanging against the disc over bumps. These clips are often missing from aftermarket pad kits even though they're needed for a proper install; source separately as a "mounting kit for front brake pads" if missing, or salvage from old parts.137138139140
Rest vs doreset dimension debate (with disc-corrosion side benefit)
A detailed community thread converged on: doreset (pre-facelift) front pads = 131 mm; rest (facelift) front pads = 133.4 mm, with an acceptable working range of 133.1–133.3 mm. Cross-fitment from Mazda 6 (131 mm, doreset-sized) is possible on a rest car but may require shim adjustment to prevent rattling — one owner warns strongly against this cross-fit ("will rattle"), so treat it as workable-but-risky rather than a clean swap.141142143144145146147148149150151152 Bonus of the 133 mm rest size: no need to scrape rust off the caliper bracket ears to fit, unlike the narrower Mazda-sized pad.149 When installing, preserve the retention "ears/whiskers" on the pad backing — doing so gives a more secure fit even for owners uncertain about exact dimension compatibility.152 Always verify model year (rest/doreset) before purchasing to ensure fitment without modification (consistent with the Restyle vs pre-restyle section above).
Earlier, conflicting mini-thread (Jun 2024): before the detailed 133.4 mm vs 131 mm consolidation above, an earlier exchange reached the opposite initial conclusion — one participant stated front pad size is the same between rest and doreset. That was immediately contradicted by another owner who reported their (rest) front pads are physically bigger than the doreset ones. This earlier thread is superseded in detail by the later 133.4/131 mm consolidation, but is kept here as a record that the same/different-size question was already disputed a year before it was resolved with hard numbers.153154155156
Miles ceramic pads — cross-model recommendation (B50/X80)
One owner reports standardizing on Miles ceramic-series pads across both the B50 and X80, citing the two models' brake systems as not very different from each other; long service life reported with no problems, drawing on past experience with a burnt/warped rear disc caused by a different pad issue on the B50 (unrelated to Miles specifically). This is a general brand recommendation rather than a confirmed part-number cross-reference — verify fitment/dimensions before ordering, consistent with the 133.1 mm rule documented above.157158
UIDNU YD52002 — resolves earlier whistling complaints
UIDNU YD52002 ceramic front pads fit the restyled (post-2019) X80 and are reported to resolve the whistling/squeaking that plagued earlier pad changeouts on this model — sized to the X80 itself, not a Mazda cross-fit. Available on Ozon and other RU retailers; multiple owners confirm good fit and quiet operation.159160161162163164 Separately documented: UIDNU YD52002 is recommended as an OEM-equivalent pad featuring a ceramic friction compound with professional manufacturer branding, available on Ozon.165166167
Update/conflict: a later report (see the brake-pad-noise-quality card for the full account) found the whistle returned after about 2 days on one car after UIDNU YD52002 initially resolved it — even this well-regarded pad is not a guaranteed permanent fix for every car.168169170
