Fitting oversized tires — 225/60R16 and 225/65R17

225/60/16 without offset change: One owner installed 225/60/16 tires without changing the wheel ET offset from the original ET45 spec. Reported handling: normal to good in snow, holding better than the stock 215/60/17 size ¹²³. Some owners report occasional rubbing on the wheel arches during extreme steering angles with this size, especially on restyle-model (2018–2019+) vehicles ⁴⁵.

Conflict: restyle and pre-facelift models reportedly have different arch geometry/depth, which explains why some owners see no rubbing while others do ⁶⁷⁸.

225/65R17: A larger-than-stock 225/65R17 size can also be fitted, but requires heating the plastic wheel-well trim with a hot-air gun to press it inward and prevent rubbing (media 35385) ⁹¹⁰. After the swap, the speedometer read about 3 km/h faster than actual speed — more accurate than the stock setup's roughly +7 km/h error, because the change in tire circumference shifts the speedometer's calibration offset ¹¹¹²¹³.
