Air leaks to unintended directions regardless of mode: multiple owners report that the X80's HVAC deflector dampers seal poorly (worn gaskets/seals on the vent dampers), so air escapes sideways instead of being properly directed. Result: even when windshield-only ("лобовое") mode is selected, air is felt blowing from most/all vents at once, weakening the defrost airflow specifically aimed at the glass — a defect one owner traced to worn-out damper seals after partially disassembling the heater unit ^1234567.

Basic HVAC control layout and behavior: the left dial adjusts temperature (higher = hotter), the right dial controls fan speed (0 to max), and the mode button cycles through air-direction modes (defrost/face/floor). The heater may fail or become intermittent if the antifreeze/coolant level is low (should be at or above the minimum mark). Blower fan cannot run independently of the heater (design limitation): the HVAC system cannot operate the cabin air blower independently of the heating function. Front heater duct assembly — do not force a connection between upper and lower tubes: when working behind the dashboard on the front heater air ducts (воздуховоды печки), the upper and lower ducts should not be forced into a direct connection with each other — they simply insert into their own separate mounting clips. If the lower duct doesn't seat in its mount after the tubes have been joined, that's a sign the tubes are incorrectly positioned; they are designed to stay separate rather than mate together directly. One owner initially struggled to determine whether the tubes should connect and confirmed, after community input, that they insert independently (with some effort, but they do seat) ^{363738394041424344}.
