Recirculation shutter motor failure — Mazda-donor fix
Tags: #hvac
The recirculation-mode shutter motor's internal gears can break, causing a clicking sound whenever the shutter operates 1. The OEM replacement comes in the same housing as the heater shutter motor — only the internals differ 1.
Fix used: a used Mazda recirculation motor, sourced from a salvage yard, tested and verified to work as a substitute 12. The motor is accessible after removing the glove box; removal requires taking out 3 screws (2 front, 1 rear). Tool access is tight and requires socket drivers. Replacement takes roughly 15 minutes 12.
