Air intake resonator booming noise
Tags: #noise
The X80's air resonator/intake air box (воздухан/резонатор воздушный), under the hood, produces a low booming/howling noise during acceleration, especially once the engine is warm. Cause: cavity resonance at certain RPM bands rather than a fault. Fix that one owner reports has held up for 3 years with no recurrence: apply sound-deadening material (шумка/ шумоизоляция) to both the exterior and interior surfaces of the resonator 12. Separately, the resonator housing can develop seam leaks/cracks (лопнул по шву) over time — if a seam split is found during inspection or repair, seal it with the same sound-deadening material at the same time to avoid a repeat service visit 3.
