Cabin air recirculation servo motor

Symptom that led to this diagnosis: a repeated clicking noise from an unidentified HVAC-area mechanism, which turned out to be the cabin air recirculation servo motor 1. Part number: 5GA061B60 2. Failure pattern: the servo's internal gear and/or the linkage rod can wear or become damaged, producing audible clicking as it struggles to actuate; 2-3 clicks in a row observed together with the gear visibly "skipping teeth" ("зубы скачут") is treated as a near-certain (99%) sign the servo itself needs replacement, not a simpler fix 3. When ordering a replacement by part number, verify the listing matches — one owner received the wrong part despite ordering by the correct article number from Autodoc, so cross-check compatibility carefully before installing 2.

Alternatives. Used Mazda servo motors (compatible hardware, salvage-yard sourced) are available on Avito as a cheaper alternative to a new OEM unit 4. A 3D-printed replacement gear was raised as a budget option for the specific worn-gear failure mode, though it requires technical skill/access to a 3D printer and was not confirmed as sourced or tested by anyone in the thread 5.

A different problem with the same servo: washer spray auto-triggers recirculation, fogging windows in cold weather. Distinct from the clicking/gear-wear failure documented above, this is a design-behavior complaint about the same recirculation system: using the windshield washer automatically triggers cabin-air recirculation mode, which causes window fogging in cold weather since fresh outside air stops being drawn in. Two workarounds: (1) simple — locate and permanently disconnect the recirculation actuator's plug (a 3-wire connector) on the left side of the glove box; this requires removing the dashboard and permanently disables auto-recirculation; (2) better — install a toggle switch on the pink recirculation-control wire, routed out through an opening in the glove box, giving manual override without needing to dismantle the whole dash. The pink wire is what controls the recirculation valve, and this whole area is accessible from below the glove box without a full dash removal 6789101112.
