Front fog light (PTF) install — restyle wiring

Tags: #fog-light · #restyle · #relay

Restyle-generation X80 models come with complete factory wiring for several advanced features — including fog lights and parking sensors — pre-installed but left unpowered. The factory wiring is not cut or removed at the factory, it's simply not energized, which makes a later fog-light install significantly easier than wiring from scratch.

Installation steps. (1) A multi-position steering-wheel stalk (sourced from AliExpress) with 2 positions is needed to control front/rear fog lights from the wheel. (2) The relay needed for the fog circuit is already present in the electrical block — no need to source a separate relay. (3) A new 10-pin connector block with its own wiring harness is required; 3 of its pins already carry power for the DRL circuit, and the remaining spare pins are available for the fog lights. (4) The washer-fluid tank bracket needs to be modified with an angle grinder to make room for the new connector block. (5) The front bumper needs to come off for full wiring access, though careful work without a full bumper removal is possible if the wiring is otherwise accessible. (6) Ground connection is taken from the vehicle body. A service shop can do the install if you'd rather not DIY it. Detailed installation photos and documentation from a forum member ("ГАЗЛОИД") on the FAW X80 forum are available for reference. Before buying any other components, verify the correct relay is actually already present in your car's electrical block ^{1234567 891011121314 15}.

LED daytime-running/"walking" light can be set to switch off with the turn signal, and sourcing options. A separate report adds a feature detail relevant to a fog-light install: the FAW X80 supports configuring the LED walking light (daytime running light) to deactivate whenever the turn signals are engaged, rather than staying lit throughout — useful to know when wiring a fog-light kit into the same area. On sourcing: fog lights themselves can be bought from AliExpress or similar marketplaces, with various bezel styles available in both light and dark trim finishes ^161718192021.

Complete wiring kit. One owner bought a complete front fog-light wiring kit for a 2018 FAW Besturn X80 (CA4GD1) from AliExpress, and adds that any such harness can be assembled yourself as long as the connector at the bulb is the right one ²²²³.
