Park-assist (PDC) sensor replacement

Prices and suppliers on this page are Russian-market (RUB, at the dates shown). Verify locally before relying on them in Syria.

To replace the front park-assist sensor (PDC датчик переда): a special socket tool is required (специальный ключ для дк) — the sensor cannot be removed with generic tools. Remove it only on a cold engine to avoid the risk of stripping the mounting thread (вероятность сорвать резьбу) — attempting removal while warm was flagged as a real risk. After installation, clear the fault codes with a diagnostic scanner. Community note: double-check you are replacing the front sensor and not the rear one — the two look similar and it is easy to confuse them (one owner initially identified the wrong one before being corrected) 1234.

Rear sensor part number and reliability: the OEM rear parking sensor part number is 5GA179120, and all rear sensors are identical across X80 models/trims. Warning: roughly 1 in 3 sensors sourced this way may be defective from manufacturing, and returns are difficult because the part is classified as a complex technical device. Price range 1,000-3,000 RUB (RU market, August 2025) depending on seller/market; also available on AliExpress starting around 900 RUB (RU market, August 2025) 56.

SHO-ME universal sensors as a more durable alternative: after repeated failures of the OEM sensors (reported lifespan of about 6 months maximum, with a high failure rate), a universal SHO-ME 4-sensor parking sensor kit is recommended by one owner as a more durable alternative to continuing to replace factory sensors 7.

Used units and trade offers. An owner bought a working parking-sensor unit for ~3,200 RUB and a non-working one for ~1,600 RUB (RU market, Jul 2025); another member suspects the cheap one was a duplicate sold as working, a dispute that is hard to prove 89. A member offered to trade three TPMS sensors (5BA0-37973) for two parking sensors, part number 5CA1-79120, which he says were checked at a service centre; the thread did not say whether they fit pre- or post-facelift cars, and the number differs from the rear-sensor number 5GA179120 above 10. For the whole system see Parking sensor system and Rear parking sensors — diagnostics and replacement.
