Radio/A-C/display/fan failure — blown fuse

Symptom. One owner's radio, A/C, the interior display, and the right-side cooling fans all stopped working at the same time — everything "to the right of the driver," in the owner's words 12. The climate-control system was confirmed non-functional as part of the same failure, not a separate issue 34.

Root cause found: a burnt 30A fuse under the hood. Investigation located a burnt 30A fuse in the engine-bay fuse box 5. The discoloration on the fuse's legs suggested more than a simple overload — "судя по цвету ножек... там не всё хорошо" (going by the color of the legs, something's not right there) 6. Community consensus: a fuse doesn't burn out "just because" — a genuine short circuit (КЗ) was suspected, most likely from a wire that had rubbed through its insulation somewhere and was touching the chassis/body 78 9.

Debate: what amperage fuse to use for testing. Conflict, both sides attributed: HS Development argued for temporarily fitting a lower-rated 25A fuse instead of the correct 30A when testing, on the reasoning that a lower rating is gentler on the wiring if a short is still present and will blow before the wiring itself is damaged further 1011121314. Che Guevara pushed back, arguing the 30A fuse was specified for a reason and that under-rating it risks a nuisance blow even without a real fault, so the correct fix is to find and repair the short and then use the proper 30A fuse rather than work around it with a smaller one 15161718. Both agreed that if a fresh 30A fuse blows immediately upon installation, that by itself confirms a real short circuit is present rather than a one-off overload 19209.

Diagnostic process. Steps worked through in this thread: (1) test with a multimeter's continuity/diode-test setting to check circuits before and after the suspect fuse 21; (2) with the fuse pulled, turn the ignition on and hold the head-unit power button for a few seconds — power should not reach the unit if the fuse is truly the only feed, which helps confirm which circuit the fuse actually protects 22; (3) pull back the corrugated wire-loom (гофра) in the suspect area and visually inspect the bundled wires for chafing, melted insulation, or scorch marks 23242526 2728; (4) check connectors in the area for oxidation/corrosion after removing them 26; (5) as a targeted test, apply water drop by drop onto the suspect harness section to try to reproduce an intermittent short under conditions closer to real-world moisture exposure, focusing on the area toward the main harness bundle 29303132. In this case, visual inspection of the exposed wiring found insulation tape at the ends of a corrugated section that may simply be factory-applied strain relief rather than damage, so its presence there is not itself conclusive evidence of a prior fault 2833.

Outcome: unresolved in this batch, referred to a professional. After working through the above without pinning down the exact break/short location, the owner exhausted the troubleshooting options they were willing to try themselves and decided to pay for a professional diagnostic (quoted at 3,000 RUB, RU market, 2026-08) at an independent ("Euro auto") shop rather than an official dealer, deliberately leaving the dashboard disassembled in case the shop needs further access 3435. No fix was confirmed as of this batch of messages — logged here as an open case; revisit and merge in the professional shop's findings if/when the owner reports back.

Related report: dead functions after a battery change. In a similar case an owner changed the battery and checked all fuses, found a 15 A fuse in the cabin and replaced it; some functions returned, but the heater and climate control still did not work. Wiring under the dash was wrapped in tape and a member saw possibly melted wires near the BCM connectors; another member suggests wiggling the connectors under the seat and trying a fuse swap 36373839. Fuse ratings of the blocks are in the fuse and relay map.
