Sunroof cable/mechanism failure in frost
Some advice here concerns sub-zero winters and is less relevant in a hot climate.
In cold winter conditions, if the sunroof (люк) is forced open (e.g. it's frozen or sticking) rather than left alone, the cable mechanism can be damaged, including the metal drive rod pulling out of its track 12. Once that happens, the fix is not a field repair — the full sunroof mechanism, including the complete bracket assembly, needs replacing 1. Sourcing the part can be difficult: one owner had to travel to another city (Kaluga) to find a used unit at a salvage yard, since new parts weren't readily available 1. Installation requires complete removal of the roof panel 12.
