TPMS sensor programming, cloning and tools

• Programming is mandatory. New or replacement sensors must be programmed/registered before they work ¹²³. Reports on how much is needed differ by generation: pre-restyle cars are said to auto-adapt to new sensors, while restyle cars need ECU reprogramming by a dealer or specialist, so verify the model year before buying ⁴⁵. Self-programming was reported not possible, so there are two routes: transfer the original sensors from the old wheels to the new ones (preferred, no reprogramming) ⁶⁷, or have a FAW dealer program new ones with its diagnostic equipment ⁸.
• Broken sensor during tire work. Extract the code from the old (dead but still readable) sensor and program it into the new one before installing it; keep the old sensor if it still reads at all ⁹¹⁰¹¹.
• Cloning vs. a new UUID. Either clone the original sensor's UUID/ID into the new sensor so the ECU keeps recognising the old identity, or program a fresh UUID and make the ECU learn it. OEM FAW sensors cannot be cloned; they must be programmed as new, by extracting the UUID from ECU memory and writing it to the new sensor with a tool such as an Autel ^1213141516.
• One original sensor needed for auto-programming. New sensors cannot auto-pair unless at least one original sensor stays on the car as a reference; otherwise a technician must program them one by one ¹⁷¹⁸.
• Per-wheel programming, then sleep. After replacement each sensor is programmed individually per wheel location (Autel confirmed to work) ¹⁹²⁰²¹. Sensors then sleep after roughly 4 hours of inactivity and do not report until the car has been driven 1.5-2 km ^{22232425192021}.
• Second (seasonal) wheel set. FS43X0L5 sensors can be programmed into the BCM with an Autel T508 in minutes, but a sensor ID cannot be duplicated onto a second wheel set: each ID is locked to one position, so seasonal swaps need either reprogramming at each changeover or a fully separate sensor set ^26272829.
• Autel walkthrough (June 2026). Use an Autel scanner with the FAW/Bestune library: searching "FAW" returns nothing, so open the "BESTUN" brand menu and expand to "X80" and the sensors then pair ^{3031323334353637383940414243444546474849505152}. After fitting, a sensor can be woken by driving with the tire inflated (pressure alone activates it) or by holding a powerful coil magnet against its body, which switches on the transmitter ⁵²⁴⁵. Genuine FAW sensors are proprietary and need special reprogramming matched to their battery model ³⁰³¹.
• Scanners. Plain OBD readers cannot bind or read TPMS ⁵³. Recommended: Autel TS508 Wi-Fi with MaxiTPMS (sold on Ozon), or a Mucar BT200 on the DiagZone PRO platform with its TPMS service function ^54555657. The Autel TS508 was confirmed by an experienced member to support the X80; borrowing a tire shop's unit is a good alternative to buying one, and Autel sensors suit the car too ⁵⁸⁵⁹. An Autel MX-Sensor 433/315 MHz programmer was 7,579 RUB at a 58% discount on AliExpress (April 2025) ⁶⁰; a Launch-type programmer costs about 7,800 RUB (RU market, October 2026), so most owners pay a shop instead ⁶¹.
• Remote/outsourced programming. A community member offered paid programming or ID cloning with a proprietary programmer for 7,500 RUB (RU market, May 2026); remote handling works if the customer supplies the sensor IDs, read off the sensor or via Launch/Diagzone Pro diagnostics from the ECU ^62636465. An Avito specialist might program four sensors for about 1,000 RUB (RU market, October 2026), though this is hearsay ⁶⁶.
• Conflict on older sensors. Some technicians report success reprogramming sensors made before about 2016 with aftermarket scanners, others cannot bind any replacement sensor at all because of equipment limits (unresolved) ^676869707172.
