AKPP fluid change — drain plug and filter

Some advice here concerns sub-zero winters and is less relevant in a hot climate.
Drain plug location. The AKPP (automatic transmission) has a dedicated drain plug on the sump/pan, accessible from underneath with a hex socket — a full fluid change does not strictly require removing the whole pan just to drain the fluid, though the filter (a coarse steel mesh, not a paper cartridge) does live inside the pan123.
Partial-drain interval and volumes. Standard community practice is a partial drain ("полупролив") roughly every 30,000 km, with the first one done as soon as possible after buying a used car. One owner drained/refilled 4L at 80,000 km (fluid, gasket, and filter all found in good condition at that service) and planned the next partial drain at 30-40k km later45. Community consensus in this thread settled around 3.7-3.8L as the amount that "sticks" (settles as consistent) for a partial drain without pan removal67.
Filter is a reusable steel mesh, not a cartridge. The AKPP oil filter is a coarse steel mesh strainer, not a disposable paper element. Recommended service: remove it, blow it out with compressed air, and clean with kerosene/gasoline solvent, then reinstall — no need to replace it outright, and shops that charge extra for "complex filter service" are pushing an unnecessary markup89. Filter part number and full ordering link: 35330-TFA060 (kitzapchasti.ru); draining is not fussy about catching old fluid separately — a partial drain settles at almost exactly 4L, and if the pan is also dropped, add roughly +1L (total ~5L)1011. When removing the pan filter/cover, also clean and wipe the pan cover and check the drain magnets for metal shavings — on a well-maintained AKPP the pan cover should come out clean, without sludge buildup12.
Bleeding air after a fill. After pumping fluid in, work the gear selector through the positions (this is how trapped air is bled from the system) — a competent mechanic should already know to do this1314. Air/pressure venting itself happens through the AKPP breather ("сапун"), which clips onto the battery bracket151617.
Level-check procedure and temperature requirement. To set/verify the level on a partial drain (no pan removal): warm the transmission to 35-47°C (ideally the higher end, ~47°C) before the fluid has fully expanded, then — with the engine running — cycle the selector through D (3 sec), R (3 sec), N (3 sec) a few times, then open the drain and wait until the stream slows to a trickle before closing it. Without pan removal, this yields about 3-3.2L718.
Fill-point location. Multiple owners struggled to find the correct fluid fill access point on this transmission (one reported spending ~20 minutes searching); a reference video/article for the "AKPP X80 part 2" procedure (2L, 2017 model) circulated in the group to help locate it, alongside photos pointing to the exact fill opening192021.
Later interval reports — 40,000-45,000 km, and a "no factory interval, just checks" claim. Later, separate threads add conflicting interval information on top of the ~30,000 km partial-drain practice already documented on this card: one report gives 40,000-45,000 km as the partial-change interval, explicitly stating a full fluid change is not recommended (no benefit, and risk of transmission damage from an improper full-flush procedure) — the reusable steel-mesh filter should simply be cleaned, dried, and reinstalled rather than replaced, consistent with the filter-service guidance already on this card2223. A separate later report frames it differently: the factory maintenance schedule does not include an AKPP oil-change interval at all, only a fluid level check every 30,000 km — but for used cars, especially at 80,000 km+, a full fluid change with filter service is strongly recommended regardless. Service-center cost for this full change (including pan-gasket replacement): 5,000-6,000 RUB (RU market, July 2024). Fluid capacity is roughly 4+ liters; a partial fill without dropping the pan will not achieve a complete change242526272829. Conflict: interval guidance ranges from ~30,000 km (community practice already on this card) to 40,000-45,000 km (later report) to "no factory interval, just periodic checks" (another later report) — not resolved within this data batch, and may reflect the factory-vs-community-practice distinction the "no interval" report explicitly raises.
Factory vs. realistic interval, and expected transmission lifespan. A further, separate report gives yet another framing: the factory (Aisin) recommendation is a fluid change every 20,000 km, while community specialists consider 30,000 km more realistic in practice. Expected AKPP resource life before a major repair is cited as 130,000-190,000 km; delaying fluid changes and skipping an auxiliary cooler (see the AKPP-longevity card) are said to compound and significantly shorten this lifespan, while early cooler installation can extend it30.
AKPP pan gasket — part number, from the second Telegram group. A separate community (FAW BESTURN X80 group) gives the AKPP pan-gasket part number: 100 139 0002. The same message reconfirms the filter-cleaning practice already documented on this card: during a fluid change, the old filter is not replaced — it's washed/cleaned and reinstalled31.
AKPP oil filter pricing spread — scam warning, from the second Telegram group. A separate report from the second group: an owner (non-facelift, 2017, ~93,000 km) shopping for the AKPP oil filter (part 35330-TFA060, already documented on this card) found prices ranging from ~2,000 RUB to ~8,000 RUB for apparently the same item (comparing kitzap.ru against a Wildberries listing). Community reply reinforces the guidance already on this card: the filter is metal and can simply be cleaned/rinsed well rather than replaced — some sellers are marking up an otherwise identical product, so cross-check sites before paying the higher price32333435.
Filter replacement at high mileage — restated as a full-assembly swap. A separate report describes the filter as a mesh screen rather than a cartridge element, and frames the job as an outright replacement (mesh screen plus gasket seal) rather than clean-and-reinstall: at the 190,000 km service interval, this replacement can be done at the same time as an oil change, and the filter element comes out completely as a single removable assembly, with no complex disassembly required — consistent with the ease-of-access already noted on this card, though this source treats replacement (not cleaning) as the default approach363738.
Where the community disagrees
- AKPP fluid-change interval guidance conflicts across threads: ~30,000 km partial drain (earlier community practice), 40,000-45,000 km partial-change interval with full change discouraged (later report), factory Aisin recommendation of 20,000 km vs. community-realistic 30,000 km (another report), and "no factory interval at all, only 30,000 km level checks, but full change recommended for used cars at 80,000 km+" (yet another report). Not resolved within this data batch.
