Audi 09G and DQ200 gearbox reference notes
Tags: #reference · #automatic-transmission
Reference material shared in the group about two other-brand automatic gearboxes: the Audi 09G (a 6-speed made by AISIN AW) and the VW-group DQ200 dual-clutch box. It is background for comparing with the X80's own automatic (see AKPP longevity); none of it is X80-specific.
09G technical data. Audi code AQ250-6F (AISIN AW TF-60SN), service code 09G, used on the Audi A3 (model year 2004) and TT. Planetary gearset in Lepelletier layout; torque up to 300 Nm depending on version; weight about 82.5 kg (the previous 09A: 102 kg); length about 350 mm. Gear ratios: 1st 4.148, 2nd 2.370, 3rd 1.556, 4th 1.155, 5th 0.859, 6th 0.686, reverse 3.394. Intermediate drive 52/49 = 1.061. Final drive 61/15 = 4.067 (engine code GSY, 1.6 L) or 58/15 = 3.867 (GJZ, 2.0 L FSI); overall ratio 4.316 (GSY) or 4.102 (GJZ); total spread 6.051.
09G selector shift-lock. The selector is held in P by a latch driven by solenoid N110, controlled by the gearbox control unit J217. With the ignition on and the selector in N for more than 2 seconds, N110 is energised and locks the selector in N; this lock stops working above about 5 km/h and is released by pressing the brake pedal or switching the ignition off. If power fails, the selector stays locked in P; the emergency release is done after removing the centre-console trim (per the owner's manual) by pushing the N110 latch out of the P slot. The key-removal lock is solenoid N376 (steering-column control unit J527), which stops the key turning to the removal position while the selector is outside P; switch F319 (normally closed) signals P. Parking for a long time with the selector outside P discharges the battery. On the Audi TT both locks are mechanical cables1.
09G tiptronic steering-wheel shifting. With the selector in D or S, pressing one of the two steering-wheel buttons enters tiptronic mode, which stays active for about 8 seconds after the last shift and then returns to automatic. Several presses can skip gears (for example 6th straight to 3rd). The 8-second countdown is extended while cornering or on engine overrun, and the maximum time from manual back to automatic is 40 seconds. On the A3 the button signal travels over the LIN bus to the steering-column control unit J527; US-export Audi TT have no steering-wheel shifting in D or S1.
DQ200 hydraulic accumulator warning. In a video an owner warns that the DQ200 gearbox hydraulic accumulator is charged with gas to about 60 bar and must not be taken apart without releasing the pressure, because the seal or the gas can blow out. The transcript is fragmentary, so the exact procedure is unclear2.
