Reported limitations. FAW's cruise control is described by some owners as unreliable in several respects: it does not hold the exact set speed (±2-3 km/h error reported), it over-accelerates on hills before correcting itself, and it has a slow resume response after being paused/reactivated. It is compared unfavorably to Renault's cruise-control systems in this report¹²³.

Conflict — some owners report much better precision. Other owners (referenced elsewhere in this KB, e.g. "Fill") report the cruise control holding speed with ±1 km/h precision, suggesting the experience varies — possibly by model year, trim, or individual car/ECU calibration rather than a universal flaw.

Cruise control availability on manual-transmission models. Cruise control is available on manual (MKPP) transmission models of the X80 and is installed on some variants from the factory. Cruise control is not simply a button added to the steering wheel — it requires program/software installation to enable the function, and the configuration differs from the automatic-transmission variant^{4567891011121314}.

Speed increment differs by transmission type. Cruise control's speed adjustment increment (per button press) is factory-programmed differently by transmission: manual (MKPP) increments by 0.4 km/h per step; automatic (AKPP) increments by 0.7 km/h per step. This is fixed in firmware and cannot be changed by the user¹⁵¹⁶¹⁷.
