Chip tuning for automatic-transmission cars needs more than an ECU flash. A Moscow-based chip-tuning service reports that for automatic-transmission X80s, achieving a meaningful performance improvement requires tuning all vehicle systems, not just the ECU — a standard ECU-only remap is described as insufficient for meaningful gains on automatic models¹²³.

Firmware-only tuning result — +10% power, mandatory 95+ octane afterward. A separate firmware modification (ECU tuning, without catalyst removal) produced roughly +10% power with noticeably improved throttle response and acceleration. Critical requirement: switching to 95+ octane fuel exclusively afterward — 92 octane is no longer suitable once tuned. No significant change in fuel consumption was observed.
