Owner statements about which engines and gearboxes the X80 came with. They are second-hand recollections from the group, not manual data; compare with engine identity.

Early engines. One member says the early X80 engines came in 2.0 L and 2.4 L versions (different stroke) with a compression ratio of 9.5, not the 11.5 of the Ford/Mazda-derived engines. He adds that cast-iron sleeves in an aluminium block were used to save cost and that the engines were homologated to Euro 3/4; only the 2.0 L (Euro 5) stayed in China alongside a 1.8 turbo. Another owner mentions a 2.3 L option and a 1.8 turbo¹².

Variants in the wiring diagrams. The factory EWD pages cover three engines, a 2.0 L, a 1.8T and a 1.8TD, with a 2nd-generation automatic (2.0 L and 1.8T) and a 3rd-generation automatic on the 1.8TD; see component codes³⁴⁵. The manual's ignition table names engine codes CA4GD1 (2.0 L) and CA4GC18T (1.8 turbo); see Torch plug codes and gap rules⁶.

Turbo gearbox. One owner says the turbo X80 he looked at has a 6-speed automatic rather than an 8-speed. The voice transcript is garbled, so trim and year are unclear⁷.
