Fuel pump vs. ignition diagnosis (quick-start)
Tags: #fuel-pump · #diagnostics
Quick diagnostic method. To determine whether a no-start/hard-start condition is caused by fuel pump failure or an ignition problem: spray quick-start aerosol ("быстрый старт") into the intake manifold while cranking the engine.
- If the engine starts, the issue is on the fuel supply side (likely pump failure) — the aerosol is providing a combustible charge that the failed pump isn't.
- If the engine does not start, the problem is more likely ignition (spark/electrodes) rather than fuel delivery.
This rapid test avoids unnecessary part replacement by narrowing down which system to investigate first.1
