MAP sensor part number — cleaning fix

Tags: #part-number · #fuel-consumption · #bosch

No MAF — the X80 uses a MAP sensor instead. The FAW X80 is not equipped with a MAF (mass air flow) sensor (ДМРВ). Instead it uses a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure), part number L03D906051A, located in the intake manifold, which measures absolute intake pressure rather than airflow directly — a different architecture from many contemporary engines that use MAF12345.

Community sometimes calls it "MAF" — cleaning it improves AT shift quality. In a separate report, an owner describes cleaning "the MAF sensor in the intake manifold" (almost certainly referring to the same physical MAP sensor described above, given the X80 has no true MAF) and reports this improved automatic-transmission shift quality and reduced harsh shifting, especially in S-mode — a simple maintenance task with a measurable drivability improvement6.

Damage risk during cleaning — fragile internal tube. WARNING: the MAP sensor (absolute-pressure sensor, датчик абсолютного давления) has a fragile internal tube (трубка) that extends into the sensor body. During cleaning with a brush or carburetor cleaner, this tube can easily get pushed down and fail to return to its original position — caused by rough cleaning technique or excessive brush pressure. If this happens, the tube stays stuck in the deflected position and the sensor may need to be replaced entirely. Clean this sensor gently, without brushing or pressing directly on the internal tube7.

Normal operating range restated with a numeric threshold. On a warmed-up engine at idle, the MAP sensor (абсолютное давление в впускном коллекторе) should read 28-35 kPa (0.28-0.34 bar). A reading of 35 kPa is borderline/maximum; anything above 35 kPa may indicate an air leak into the intake manifold — useful as a quick numeric sanity check alongside the cleaning guidance already on this card8910.

Detailed cleaning procedure — drivability fix at 108,000 km. A step-by-step account of the same MAP-sensor cleaning already documented on this card: at higher mileage (108,000 km in this example), the sensor accumulates oil and dust, causing engine vibration, jerking during gear shifts, harder starting, and weak low-RPM power. Procedure: locate the sensor on the front of the intake manifold, roughly opposite the center of the cooling fan; remove it using a T25 star socket with a short ratchet (tight, tactile work done mostly by feel); spray carb cleaner thoroughly onto the sensor element — do not wipe or touch the sensor pin itself, only the outer housing; wipe the exterior with a cloth and reinstall. Reported results: smoother idle, fewer vibrations, better transmission shift feel, easier cold starts, and better throttle response. Cleaning the throttle body at the same time is recommended — in this case the throttle was found very dirty at 108,000 km. This is explicitly a drivability fix, not a repair for any specific fault code1112131415161718.

MAF/MAP cleaning cross-referenced from the EGR/crankcase-ventilation troubleshooting thread. In the course of unrelated EGR/PCV troubleshooting (see the EGR and crankcase-ventilation cards), an owner recommended cleaning "the MAP sensor" (referred to informally as MAF in the thread) located just below the throttle body — consistent with the location and procedure already documented on this card — as one of several checks for rough idle/jerking symptoms192021.

Excessive fuel consumption traced to a faulty MAP sensor (ДАД). In a separate, severe case — fuel consumption of about 40L/150km — the root cause was a faulty MAP sensor (referred to as ДАД, absolute pressure sensor), located near the intake manifold as documented elsewhere on this card. A properly working sensor controls fuel injection and prevents the engine from running rich; symptoms of the fault included erratic/inconsistent error codes across multiple different OBD2 scanners. Recommended diagnostic: a simple continuous fuel-consumption test — fill the tank to full, drive 100-200 km, then refill and measure the actual liters used222324252627282930313233.

Bosch 0261230245 as the MAP sensor (ДАД) replacement (Oct 2026). Печной Двор posted Bosch 0261230245 (an autopiter.ru listing) as the absolute-pressure sensor (MAP, ДАД) and says the article number is identical for the FAW X80 and the Mazda 3435.

Case: rough running and stalls after a cylinder-head repair, MAP suspected (Oct 2026). Павел's 2016 X80 2.0 petrol with an LPG (gas) system ran unevenly, stalled and reacted poorly to gas after the cylinder head (ГБЦ) was repaired, with timing-related (ГРМ) fault codes 3637. He had checked the timing marks about 10 times and the MAP sensor read 550-850 mbar 3839. Тимур suggested a poorly screwed-in sensor (or a crooked timing assembly) 40. Печной Двор replied that a MAP fault can behave this way without an error code, the engine will not go into emergency mode without the connector, and it is cured only by replacing the sensor, calling it a Mazda ailment that migrated to the X80 41. The fix was not confirmed.

Where the sensor is, and cleaning it (Oct 2026). Members disagree on the location on the 2.0 petrol engine. A screenshot of an AI search answer posted by Konstantin Руммель places it behind the plastic intake manifold, low, on the rear (bulkhead) side, reachable only through its wiring plug 42. Фаб says it sits on the front part of the intake after the throttle body, slightly lower, roughly in the centre of the radiator, and can be felt and unscrewed blind; he cleaned it and fuel consumption did not drop, "all placebo" 43. Victor 🇷🇺 removed, cleaned and refitted it, but dropped the screw (15 minutes to find) and notes that carburettor cleaner (карбклинер) eats the sensor's plastic, leaving it bubbled in places 4445. The sensor in the photo is Bosch-branded with a three-pin connector, a green O-ring and a mounting flange 46.
