Remote engine start needs aftermarket alarm

Tags: #remote-start · #autostart · #alarm · #aftermarket · #key-fob

No factory remote start. The FAW X80 does not have a factory remote engine start capability via the stock key fob, at least not in the units discussed in the group. Getting remote start ("автозапуск") requires installing an aftermarket car alarm — examples mentioned include Pandora, StarLine A93, and StarLine A96 — configured via the vehicle's CAN bus. Feature availability may vary by model year and trim; a 2020+ model was mentioned as possibly having it, but this was not confirmed as a factory feature1234567.

Demonstration. A 42-second video from a 2020 model shows remote start working via an aftermarket alarm (Pandora): the engine starts when the key fob button is pressed, with a tone confirming startup. A follow-up voice note clarifies that the tones/sounds heard are from the alarm system, not a factory chime189.

Conflicting report — stock alarm autostart via a triple-press sequence. An earlier, separate report conflicts with the "no factory remote start" finding above: it describes the stock X80 alarm as having a built-in autostart function, triggered by pressing the remote lock button 3 times in quick succession (each press under 1 second apart) from a distance of at least 5-10 meters — beyond the car's normal remote-lock range. The engine reportedly starts and the doors lock. To stop it: a long press on the lock button. A long press on the lock button is also reported to open/close all windows and the sunroof. Conflict: not resolved whether this is a genuine factory feature present on some trims/model years (contradicting the "no factory remote start" finding above), a dealer-installed feature indistinguishable from factory to the owner, or a misidentified aftermarket alarm feature — worth verifying against a specific VIN/trim before relying on either claim1011121314.

Where the community disagrees

  • One report describes a stock-alarm autostart triggered by a triple-press-from-distance sequence, which conflicts with the separately documented "no factory remote start" finding on this card. Not resolved within this data batch — could be a genuine factory feature on some trims, a dealer-installed feature, or a misattributed aftermarket alarm.
