Popular aftermarket Android head units reported by owners:

• Teyes CC3 — 9" screen, 4GB+32GB RAM/storage; performed well when reused from a Renault Duster ¹².
• Teyes CC3L / CC3 (2K) — 2/32GB or 4/64GB options, ~24,000–35,000 RUB (October 2024 prices, RU market) ³⁴⁵. One TEYES CC3L full kit (frame, adapter, camera, steering-wheel control integration) sold for 35,069 RUB with a 57% discount in September 2024 (RU market) ⁶⁷.
• 10" generic units from auto-market sellers (Avtomobilny, Avito, etc.) ⁸⁹.
• Letrun/LeTrun — 10+ inch screen, 8/256GB or 8/512GB, ~50,000–60,000 RUB (2024, RU market); also a ~40,000 RUB option seen on an auto marketplace ^10111213.
• Auto Marketplace 10" 2/64GB package (frame + rear camera included): 13,500 RUB (Sept 2024, RU market) ⁹.
• Professional installation labor: ~5,000 RUB (as of Sept 2024, RU market) ⁶¹⁴¹⁵.
• TEYES CC3 2K — 10" screen, 6/128GB, for restyle (2019+) automatic- transmission models ¹⁶¹⁷.
• Canbox H-Line 4165-1037 — Android 10, 4/32GB, DSP, QLED, sold as a complete kit (frame + wiring) ¹⁸.
• Canbox M-Line 4543-1037 — Android 10, 2/32GB, DSP, QLED; fast delivery, complete kit ¹⁹. See frontcam.ru's FAW X80 (2018–2020) head-unit catalog for more model options ²⁰.
• Aftermarket head units need ≥6GB/128GB RAM to avoid lag — a Farcar S400 with 2GB/32GB caused noticeable system lag and freezing in daily use; 6GB/128GB is the recommended minimum for smooth operation, and correct CAN-bus integration is required to avoid dashboard error codes after install ²¹²²²³.

Required installation components (frame-and-CANBUS kit): compatible frame/bezel adapter for the new screen size, a CANbus adapter cable for FAW- specific integration (see canbus install card), and dashboard trim-removal tools (plastic pry tools). All commonly sourced on Ozon with free delivery; anti-squeak tape and trim clips help eliminate installation rattles/noise ^2425261927.

RAM guidance: 1GB units lag noticeably in daily use. 2GB is the minimum for acceptable music/navigation performance (may stutter on video playback in traffic) ²⁸²⁹³⁰. 3GB+ is recommended for smooth operation across all features ²⁸.

Recommendation: pick RAM based on actual use — music/navigation only needs less; video/apps needs 3GB+ ⁸²⁸.

Firmware flashing — USB format requirement: aftermarket/replacement head units may need firmware flashing. The USB drive must be formatted as FAT32 (not NTFS or other formats), or the unit won't recognize the files. After a firmware flash, radio stations, saved settings, and interface language reset to factory defaults (Chinese) — manual reconfiguration to English and re-programming radio stations is required afterward. Firmware files can be shared within the community if the original one isn't available ^3132333435.

Base-trim ("bomzh") install options and limitations: upgrading from the monochrome stock radio to a modern touchscreen head unit on the X80's base trim presents compatibility challenges. Options tested: Element 5 (expensive, poor performance, USB issues); Teyes CC3 2K (Allwinner K2501 processor, some reports of limitations despite widespread support). Recommendation: Teyes Pro+ or a similar K2501-processor unit offers better stability. Key limitation: many aftermarket units restrict the app ecosystem to only 3 apps running simultaneously (including Bluetooth), which makes full functionality impossible on some models. Issues also include USB-socket compatibility on the base-trim wiring harness ^{36373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960}.

More head-unit options — Avito and TOPWAY: additional aftermarket head units used by owners: units branded "AutoUnit-Teyes" found secondhand on Avito, and TOPWAY TS10S. Installation can be done DIY or outsourced to a car-electronics shop. See again frontcam.ru's FAW X80 (2018–2020) head-unit catalog for the current list of compatible units — installation can be ordered together with the unit purchase ^{616263646566676869}.

Factory display size varies by model year/edition: X80 infotainment setups vary by model year and edition. Standard models are equipped with a smaller factory head-unit display; Live Edition and later variants feature larger screens. The factory unit supports firmware updates to enable CarPlay (see the CarPlay retrofit card). Aftermarket installation options with larger touchscreen displays (Chinese tablet-style units, per the guidance above) are available but can impact dashboard aesthetics; multiple owners prefer keeping the original interface and adding wireless CarPlay via an external adapter instead of a full head-unit swap ^{70717273747576777879}.

Android 11 DSP 8GB+128GB with CarPlay (2013–2016 model range): an AliExpress-listed unit specifically marketed for the FAW Besturn X80 2013–2016 model range — Android 11, DSP audio, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, wired/wireless CarPlay support — priced around 15,702 RUB (shared October 2024, RU market). Fitment note: as with other aftermarket units on this page, exact fitment can vary by restyle generation/frame, so verify against your specific model year before ordering ⁸⁰⁸¹.
