Factory speakers and audio upgrades

Prices and suppliers on this page are Russian-market (RUB, at the dates shown). Verify locally before relying on them in Syria.

Factory speaker configuration: the X80 comes with all broadband (full-range) speakers — no dedicated tweeters from the factory. Front doors have oval 5×7 in broadband speakers; rear doors have round broadband speakers. Standard oval size is confirmed as 5×7 inches across the lineup 12. Some trims (e.g. a 2019 "Luxury") include front-door tweeter mounting locations that come empty from the factory — with no tweeter actually installed — while other examples of the car don't even have the mounting position 34567.

Stock speaker quality: factory oval speakers are widely described as low quality — quiet, and they distort/sound harsh ("хрипят") at full volume 891011. Where fitted, the factory tweeters are also considered poor quality ("говно") — though even a mediocre tweeter is reported as better than no tweeter at all 12131415.

Fitment for aftermarket speakers: standard oval 5×7 in mounting locations accept round aftermarket speakers via adapter plates — 165 mm round speakers fit the front doors this way, and adapters for 160–165 mm are commonly used; rear doors have more room and can fit up to 200 mm round speakers 1617. Confirmed successful aftermarket installs: Mac Audio (front) and Mystery (rear), both in the native 5×7 in size without needing adapters 181920.

Tweeter installation: adding aftermarket tweeters to the front doors — using the empty mounting locations where present — measurably softens and balances the sound. This is a relatively easy upgrade and is reported as a significant quality improvement over stock 3. If your car has no tweeter mounting position at all, one is needed to enable this upgrade.

Amplifier vs. speaker priority for audio upgrades: multiple owners agree the amplifier matters more than the speakers for perceived audio quality — installing a Teyes aftermarket head unit/amp setup made the stock speakers "work better" without replacing them 212223. For a stronger, higher-quality amplifier, GBL brand is recommended — expensive but delivers real power (some models include a built-in amp) 24. Caution: pushing more power through stock-mounted speakers/doors risks door-panel rattling/damage ("двери треснутся") if taken too far 23. Adding sound-deadening material (vibration-damping foam + shielding layer) to the doors and trunk lid is also recommended to reduce panel vibration/rattle and improve perceived bass response when upgrading 2122241523.

Amplifier REM (remote-enable) wire — where to find it: the REM wire turns the amplifier on/off in sync with the head unit's power state. On non-restyle (pre-facelift) models, there is no dedicated REM wire location — use the ASS (ACS/Audio Control Signal) wire instead. On restyle models, the REM wire may not exist on the head unit at all; it can instead be connected to the blue power wire (ACC), or a high-level-input-detection method can be used instead. Some aftermarket amplifiers auto-detect the input signal and don't need a REM connection at all 2526272829303132.

165 mm round speaker + CARAV adapter ring fitment: standard 165 mm (6.5 in) round speakers fit the front doors without modification when paired with CARAV adapter rings (16.5 cm, sold on Ozon, link: https://ozon.ru/t/1Gg6BHd). Plastic-to-plastic fit is secure — wood spacers are not needed. Fitment depends on the speaker's basket depth and suspension travel; owners running deeper mid-bass drivers in the doors report trimming the interior door trim slightly from the inside to clear extra depth 33343536.

Recommended upgrade path: for the front, 165 mm speakers with CARAV adapter rings; for the rear, add amplified coaxial speakers or mid-bass drivers — but skip mid-bass in the rear if a subwoofer is already present, since the mid-bass becomes inaudible/redundant next to the sub. One owner successfully runs FOCAL oval speakers (front) with Ural speakers (rear) and is satisfied with the result 37. On the head-unit side, TEYES (10–12 range) is reported as a budget option that still drives the system with strong volume at only ~5/10 output setting. Audio wiring is routed through the doors and under the carpets — dampening material is recommended along the run 3334353637.

Front speaker size and drop-in-conversion adapter rings: the front door speakers are oval-shaped units, the same size as the rear speakers. Reported upgrade options: Focal brand for the front, Ural Molot for the rear (reference: a Drive2.ru article on front speaker replacement). To convert to standard round speakers, 165mm circular speaker adapter rings are available for a drop-in conversion 3839404142.

165mm speaker spacer rings — Mazda/Haima/X80 compatible: speaker adapter/spacer rings for 165mm (6.5") speakers, compatible with the X80 as well as Mazda and Haima vehicles, are available on OZON.ru 43.

5x7 inch speaker installation confirmed front and rear: one owner successfully installed 5x7 inch (13x18 cm) oval speakers in both the front and rear door positions, reporting a good fit 444546.

Speaker upgrade options and recommended setup: stock X80 audio is widely regarded as poor. The OEM system uses 5x7 inch (165mm) oval speakers in the doors, identical size front and rear. Two upgrade paths are reported: (1) staying with 5x7 speakers — rated as mediocre by users who tried it; (2) converting to 6.5 inch (165mm) round speakers using adapter rings — recommended by user Фаб. For a proper upgrade, the recommended setup is separate mid-bass drivers plus tweeter modules (component set) rather than coaxial full-range speakers; no amplifier is needed for moderate listening volumes. Mentioned brand: DL Gryphon Pro mid-bass driver 4748495051.

DL Audio component speaker upgrade — popular choice, brand comparison: another popular upgrade path is DL Audio component speakers (brand assembled in Russia, components sourced from China). Installation: a 165mm component set for the front, coaxial speakers for the rear. DL Audio is well-regarded but preference is user-dependent — one owner replaced DL Audio with Focal instead (brand preference; both are premium-tier/expensive options). Installation method: direct solder connection or crimp terminals to the factory wiring — cutting the factory connectors is often necessary since they use non-standard connector types. Aftermarket component speakers significantly improve sound quality over the factory system 52535455.

Front/rear factory oval size confirmed same, DL vs. Focal brand experience, and weight comparison: front and rear factory speaker positions use the same oval size, confirmed by multiple owners in a front-vs-rear sizing discussion. Brand experience: one owner tried DL speakers and didn't like them, switching to Focal instead; Focal units cost about 10,000 RUB (as of August 2026, RU market). A separate owner found small 5×7 in DL speakers (no adapter rings needed) and planned a Griffon front / Barracuda rear combination. Weight comparison: stock oval speakers weigh around 650 g, while aftermarket units like Focal weigh around 2,600 g — used by owners as a rough indicator that the heavier aftermarket unit should perform better. One owner installed Focal up front, was satisfied with the result, and planned to do the rear doors next; another cautioned that two pairs of 165mm round speakers might be a better use of the same budget rather than one oval pair 5657585960616263646566676869707172.
