Factory head unit: versions and limitations

Versions. The pre-restyling X80 is equipped with a monochrome radio display unit with no Bluetooth, no aux input and no backup-camera capability — only AM/FM radio and basic controls ¹². See photo 10679 of the monochrome unit. The restyled X80 (2018+) has a larger touchscreen radio as standard equipment on the "люкс" (lux) trim, including Bluetooth connectivity ³. The stock Android 6 unit has a hidden service menu accessible with password 3369, which allows changing the launcher and screensaver ⁴⁵.

Media and phone limitations. The factory head unit can play video files ⁶⁷, demonstrated by an owner playing a car scene video from a USB stick — but USB compatibility is inconsistent: a 32GB drive was not recognized while an 8GB drive worked ⁶⁸⁷. Supported media formats are listed in the printed owner's manual — one owner found this only after consulting the manual rather than trial-and-error ⁸. Bluetooth connectivity with modern Android phones is limited because the stock unit's Bluetooth protocol is outdated ⁹¹⁰. Owners with the touchscreen unit appreciate its Bluetooth support ³. The lack of Bluetooth, aux and camera support on the monochrome unit is a common reason to upgrade to an aftermarket Android head unit, despite the low cost of the original unit ¹⁶. Aftermarket experience. Reverse-camera wiring (Tiyis SSS3K2): after installing a third-party Tiyis SSS3K2 head unit, one owner found the reverse camera activating automatically when shifting into Drive rather than only Reverse, since the camera's activation is tied into the vehicle's power circuit and the unit's automatic-engagement settings ¹⁹. Community troubleshooting: check whether the wiring was connected according to the official vehicle wiring schematic ²⁰; another suggestion was to change the firmware/factory settings on the head unit itself, since some units have a configurable setting controlling camera trigger behavior ²¹. Long-term Teyes reliability: one owner installed a Teyes 4/64 head unit and, after continuous use, rates Teyes units as the best aftermarket option they have tried ²². Another owner notes they have wanted a similar full setup (including a proper CANBUS adapter alongside the Teyes unit) for 5 years but has been held back by budget/priority constraints — an indirect data point that the Teyes-plus-CANBUS combination is viewed by the community as the aspirational, more expensive-but-correct way to do the upgrade ²³.

MCU firmware update from USB (X80F radio, guide shared 2024). The community-shared update guide for the X80F radio works as follows: put only the file CR482XA_V1.56_20200224.MCU on a clean USB stick, plus at least one music file so the unit can identify the drive, and make sure no other file with the .MCU suffix is on it. Start the engine before updating. Plug the stick in; if the radio does not switch to USB playback on its own, select USB mode manually. In USB playback, press and hold [RADIO] + [|<<] + [>>|] for more than 5 seconds to enter update mode, choose MCU, then press the right button (SEL) to start. The update takes about 1 minute, shows progress on the display and the unit reboots by itself. If the ESP warning lamp stays on afterwards, select reverse gear with the engine running (the radio volume drops) and wait a few seconds; the lamp should go out ²⁴²⁵²⁶.
