Steering column / dashboard bezel squeak
Tags: #squeak
The plastic bezel frame around the gauge cluster (tachometer and speedometer) can squeak due to vibration and a loose fit. Symptom: squeaking is heard when pressing the upper area of the bezel frame by hand 1.
Two fixes reported: (1) apply silicone lubricant to the contact points — Molykote 111 was specifically recommended, rated -40 to +260°C; or (2) remove the panel and re-glue it using acoustic foam tape to close the vibration gaps 12.
