Steering wheel heater — aftermarket installation

Tags: #steering-wheel · #heater · #installation

An aftermarket steering wheel heating kit (available on the Ozon marketplace) can be integrated as follows: (1) locate the steering wheel connector — on the test vehicle it had 2 unused free pins; (2) solder the heating element wires to those pins; (3) mount the heating pad under the steering wheel rim; (4) rewrap the steering wheel with leather over the pad. Installation requires basic soldering and leather-upholstery skills ¹²³⁴⁵⁶.

Alternative approach — pre-made heated steering-wheel wrap kit: rather than soldering a heating pad in as above, a complete pre-made heated steering-wheel wrap kit (sourced from AliExpress) is another viable option — it comes with its own heating element built into a wrap-style cover, along with an installation guide shared via Google Drive. One owner reports a successful installation using this approach ⁷⁸⁹¹⁰.
