Fluid level check — from below only (2025-05 report). Check transmission fluid level only from underneath the car. With the engine running and fluid at operating temperature (35–45°C), unscrew the drain plug/pan: a thin steady drip means correct level; no fluid/only a trickle means underfilled; fluid pouring out like an open faucet means overfilled. Fluid check without pan removal — 3L capacity confirmation (2024-08 reports). For drain-and-fill without removing the pan, capacity is approximately 3 liters. Валерий raised a question in the community: he had learned there are two different ways owners check the АКПП fluid level on this Aisin-type automatic — via the side plug (боковая пробка) or via a tube inside the pan (трубочка в поддоне) — and asked which one is actually correct for the X80.³¹ Che Guevara replied that a service station ("сто") told him the tube-in-pan method is specifically what's used to set/establish the correct fluid level (i.e., it is the calibrated reference, not just an alternative check point).³² Konstantin pushed the reasoning further: if the side plug alone were the correct check, there would be no purpose in having a tube in the pan at all — implying the side plug is not a reliable stand-alone level check on this transmission.³³ Caution: treat the side plug as a drain/access point only, not as the level-setting reference — using it to judge "full" without accounting for the tube-in-pan calibration risks overfilling the transmission.
