Wear evidence at 100,000 km (never previously changed). One owner's first transmission fluid inspection at 100k km (fluid never changed) found numerous small brass/bronze shavings (bearing wear particles), magnetic deposits of ferrous particles on the pan magnets, and a clogged filter screen. Per Aisin's own guidance, fluid should be changed every 20,000–60,000 km depending on driving conditions (more frequent for stop-and-go urban driving). After a full drain (~2.5–3 L extracted) and sump cleaning, subsequent maintenance can be done by partial drain-and-refill through the bottom sump plug; full sump removal is recommended only at that first deep service after 100k km (or longer), not routinely.^1234567

Diagnosing shift-to-neutral jerking, and pan-gasket brand caution (2026-02 report). For a car exhibiting AKPP pitching/jerking into neutral unexpectedly, an OBD2 scanner (ELM327-type) is unlikely to show a fault code — check and change the fluid first, not the electronics. Full procedure reported to fix this symptom: unbolt the drain plug and dipstick tube, remove the pan, drop the filter (mesh can be rinsed and reused), install a BRAVE BREK124 pan gasket — buyers were warned not to source the gasket from Kitszap, since a cheap Kitszap gasket reportedly blew out within 2 days of installation — and reuse the OEM distance spacers/washers (they sit slightly shorter than some aftermarket copies). Repeat the partial fluid change 2–3 times at 500–1,000 km intervals for a thorough flush. Partial-change interval — "still like new" at 80,000 km (2024-07 report). One owner bought the car at 60,000 km and did a partial (semi-proliv) change at 80,000 km; fluid condition was reported as "like new" at that point, corroborating the 30,000–40,000 km partial-interval consensus documented in the overview card.²⁴²⁵
