Cabin air filter — replacement procedure and interval

Prices and suppliers on this page are Russian-market (RUB, at the dates shown). Verify locally before relying on them in Syria.
The cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment. Procedure: (1) open the glove box; (2) disengage the two spring clips/hinges at the top corners of the glove-box opening; (3) remove the spring clip that retains the glove-box door (on the right side); (4) carefully pull the glove box down and remove it; (5) locate the filter housing behind the heater unit — the housing has directional arrows; (6) remove the old filter and install the new one following the arrow direction; (7) close the housing, reinstall the glove box, and re-engage all clips. The green spring clips are strong and require careful handling 12.
Replacement interval: every 10,000 km as preventive maintenance; some owners change the filter at every oil-service interval to fold it into regular maintenance 34.
Alternate quick glove-box removal: a simpler documented method for accessing the cabin filter: (1) press the arrow/button marked "1" at the upper right of the glove box; (2) use both hands to pull the release clips marked "2" outward toward yourself; (3) the glove box detaches completely. No disassembly or force required — a pure clip-release mechanism 5.
Caution — glove-box closer/damper can dislodge: when replacing the filter, avoid forcing the glove box open too far — this can pop the closer/damper (micro-lift) off its hinge/pivot. Symptom afterward: the glove box closes crookedly or won't latch on one side. This isn't a broken glove box, just a dislodged damper — it commonly happens and even dealer service techs simply pop it back in without treating it as a real repair. Fix: remove the trim panel underneath the glove box (unscrew it), then reseat the closer/damper and reinstall the glove box correctly; work gently rather than forcing it wide open 67891011.
Confirming simplified procedure: a separate report confirms the filter location above the glove box is straightforward to reach: (1) open the glove box; (2) disconnect the right-side micro-lift linkage (тяга микролифта) that holds the box open; (3) lower the glove box fully; (4) access and pull out the filter from above — it comes out easily once the box is lowered. Reinstalling the glove box afterward can require some dexterity to realign the lower pivot points correctly 1213141516.
Original vs. aftermarket filter comparison: the original FAW cabin filter has a distinct wave/corrugation pattern. Aftermarket analogs (e.g. Mazda-branded) are about 0.5 cm narrower than the original; Mazda-type filters are confirmed to fit and work. The Marshall MC8665K carbon/ activated-charcoal filter (available on Ozon, link: https://ozon.ru/t/39YlO9P) "fits as if it were original" — good packaging and quality reported. Modern aftermarket filters often have fewer side reinforcements (rigid only front/back) than the original, which can require a slight adjustment of the corrugated (гофра) spring to seat correctly 17181920212223242526272829.
Filter location, driver's-right area — video inspection: the cabin air filter is located behind the right side of the steering wheel from the driver's perspective (i.e. the glove-box area described above). A video walkthrough of removal and inspection showed rust/oxidation build-up on the old filter frame and an attempt to clean the accumulated debris — consistent with the filter needing regular replacement rather than cleaning/reuse 30.
Recommended replacement filter — Ozon sourcing, orientation, and odor removal: a specific scented cabin filter for "FAW Bestune X80 1.8T / B50 / B70 / B90 / Mazda 6 I/II" is sold on Ozon. One owner orders 3 units at a time (about 2-week delivery) since it fits precisely and performs its function well; installing it eliminates cabin odors completely (e.g. exhaust smell from following other vehicles). Installation orientation: blue side up. A supplier-provided installation video is also available 31323334.
