Fuel prices and regional availability

Tags: #fuel · #price

Regional price snapshot, July 2026. Community-reported fuel prices and conditions across several Russian regions: - Tatarstan: 92 octane ≈ 64 RUB/L; 95 octane ≈ 68 RUB/L (RU market, July 2026). - Southern Urals (M2 highway area): ≈ 80–85 RUB/L for 92 octane ("Opti" grade) (RU market, July 2026). - Crimea (Yalta): prices spiked to ≈ 350 RUB/L amid extreme shortage conditions (RU market, July 2026). - Multiple regions reported intermittent fuel supply, with 3–5 hour queues at stations that had fuel.

Context — refinery disruptions. Community discussion attributed the shortages to damage at roughly 40% of Russian oil refineries, including some of the largest, rather than artificial/deliberate scarcity — this was raised in response to skepticism about whether the shortage was genuine.¹²³⁴⁵⁶

Practical coping advice. Community recommendations for navigating the shortage: keep the fuel tank above half full at all times as a buffer; fill at unusual hours (early morning) when queues are shorter; be aware that some private/independent stations were charging 2–3× official prices during the shortage — cross-check against official regional pricing before paying a large premium.^7891011

Fuel quality concern. Separate from the shortage itself, some owners reported sediment/poor fuel quality during this period causing engine fouling — a secondary risk of buying from unfamiliar or opportunistic sellers during a supply crunch.¹²³⁴⁵⁶
