Genuine vs. OEM vs. analog parts

A recurring point of confusion in the community: what actually counts as "original," "OEM," or a "duplicate/copy" part. Community consensus reached in one discussion (Nov 2025):
- "Original" part = bears the FAW brand, has a FAW catalog number, and comes in FAW packaging.
- OEM parts from other suppliers (same engineering/specification, different manufacturer/supplier than FAW's own branded channel) are legitimate parts, not "fake" duplicates — a catalog/part number identifies fitment, not a single unique manufacturer. Many manufacturers can legally produce parts to the same spec.
- Cross-supplier parts made to the same specification are therefore not "duplicates" in the counterfeit sense — duplication of a design is not the same thing as illegitimate copying.
- Visual verification is the practical way to catch actual counterfeits: genuine OEM and counterfeit parts typically differ visibly in build quality and markings once compared side by side. Example given: the front hub assembly, part 5CA033047B, can be visually verified by removing the brake disc and comparing the hub's finish/markings against a known-genuine reference 1234567891011.
Counterfeit "originals" and risky suppliers (October 2026). Konstantin noted that a part with the original number L3A140581 can be found for about 500 RUB (RU market, October 2026) but the delivery may be a counterfeit; the function of the part is not named. Victor 🇷🇺 replies that fake "originals" are sold for rings, springs and clutches and arrive as counterfeits 1213. A concrete case is the right engine mount FA0139060 bought on Emex that came in a non-FAW WHCQ box; Victor's list of Emex supplier codes to avoid is in engine mounts — owner experience and fakes 1415.
