Shifter knob — thread spec and fitment

Tags: #fitment

Thread spec. Shifter knobs use a 10 mm diameter threaded mount ¹. Thread pitch varies by knob model, and no member had tools on hand to measure it precisely — generic/universal replacements may not fit due to this thread-pitch mismatch even when the diameter matches ²³⁴⁵⁶¹.

Original knob geometry. The stock X80 knob has a flat bottom and triangular profile — some aftermarket knobs may not fit this geometry even with a compatible thread ²⁴.

Aftermarket options. Generic knobs from AliExpress are available with LED/multicolor lighting (including 7-color, USB-charging models), fitted for both MT and AT shift patterns; some come with multiple thread adapters covering several car models simultaneously (a "3-in-1" thread adapter design) ^789101112. Fitment should still be verified before buying, and adapter-based "fits-everything" knobs are considered more of a niche/enthusiast choice than a guaranteed match ¹¹.
