Electrical fault — burning smell and no-start

Tags: #fuse-box

Symptoms reported together: a burning wire smell, the car refusing to start, and dashboard lights staying active without a key in the ignition — as if the whole dash is being powered externally¹²³. Diagnosis: check the fuse block, especially the lower-left block under the dashboard, for blown or corroded fuses⁴⁵⁶. Inspect connector pins for corrosion and oxidation⁷⁸. If an aftermarket head unit was installed recently, check those connections specifically, since bad aftermarket wiring is a common trigger for this pattern⁹¹⁰. This may require consulting an installation specialist or a professional auto-electrician for proper diagnosis rather than DIY troubleshooting¹¹¹².
