Key fob stuck button and battery freeze

Tags: #key-fob · #alarm · #winter · #battery

Stuck button causes random alarm triggers. Multiple owners reported the remote key fob intermittently triggering the car alarm when unlocking the doors. Root cause: the internal button mechanism gets stuck/jammed¹²³⁴⁵. Fix: take the fob to a phone-repair or battery-replacement shop for internal button cleaning and freeing — several owners in the thread separately confirmed this resolved the issue^678910111213.

Battery loses power in extreme winter cold. Separately, the fob's battery loses power in extreme cold due to the chemical reaction inside the cell slowing down — this affected an owner whose battery was about 2 years old¹⁴¹⁵. Workaround: warm the battery in a shirt/jacket pocket close to the body for 10–15 minutes before use¹⁴¹⁵. Note: the fob's plastic housing design makes battery replacement physically difficult on some units¹⁶¹⁷.
