Front springs — ride height and settling

Front suspension height imbalance after Sufix spring install (March 2026): installing new Sufix-brand front springs (confirmed OEM-spec replacement) caused the front of the vehicle to sit ~2cm higher than the rear, an unbalanced stance resembling a "lifted" vehicle. Root cause: the new front spring's stiffness combined with the (separately) worn/ sagged rear springs, not a defect in the front spring itself. Fix: install 20–30mm rubber spacer shims under the rear springs to re-level the stance — Clearance-Plus-brand 30mm spacers made for the Mazda 6 GH were confirmed compatible. No negative handling effects were reported at highway speeds of 140+ km/h after the correction 12345678. Cross-reference: see the rear springs card for the matching rear-spacer fix in detail.

Suspension tuning — how wire thickness, spring rate, and shock condition interact (April 2026): spring stiffness is set primarily by the wire (rod) thickness — many buyers select springs only by physical dimensions (width/length/height/diameter) without considering stiffness, and get caught out. A worn/soft shock absorber can mask a spring stiffness problem: if the shock no longer damps properly, the front end can visibly sag/dip even with correctly-rated springs, which owners sometimes misdiagnose as a spring issue. Victor clarifies: the shock absorber itself does not affect ride height (it only damps motion) — height is set by spring rate, which usually correlates with wire thickness. A thicker-wire (stiffer) spring compresses less under the car's weight and therefore results in a higher final ride height than a thinner-wire spring by roughly 5–15mm; overall front-left/front-right height should still come out even once matched correctly 910.

Cutting a coil to lower the front makes bumps harsher — fix is a full Mazda 6 GG fork + KYB swap: cutting one coil off the front springs lowers the car (leveling out a nose-high stance) but makes the suspension noticeably harsher over bumps — at 30–40 km/h over a speed bump, the impact becomes a jarring hit instead of the shocks absorbing it smoothly. Fix recommended by shops: replace the front struts entirely with longer-stroke Mazda 6 GG forks (not GH — see the shock absorbers card for the GG-vs-GH stroke-length distinction) paired with KYB shocks. This requires a complete fork replacement, not just a shock swap — guides are available on Drive2.ru (https://www.drive2.ru/l/588344000172297904/ and https://www.drive2.ru/l/588012772294411407/). Reported to noticeably improve suspension geometry/compliance after the lowering mod 11121314151617.

SUFIX SZ-1303 — 2020+ models, ~3cm lift, some settling in the first weeks: further corroborating reports on SUFIX SZ-1303 (already documented above): confirmed specifically for 2020-and-later X80 model years, giving roughly +3cm at the front. Some owners observed slight settling/subsidence within the first 1–2 weeks after installation. Owners measured resulting ride height with different reference points (wheel-center-to-arch vs. rocker-panel/порог) — readings are not directly comparable across methods, so pick one measurement method and stick with it before/after. Confirmed stiffer than stock 1819.

LYNXauto SC-1590 — long-term settling, ~1cm over 6+ months: additional owners confirm LYNXauto SC-1590 springs fit the factory struts without modification, but several separately report the same settling characteristic: roughly 1cm of sag after 6+ months of use. Spring diameter matches factory spec; aftermarket coil-material quality is reported to vary between batches 2021222324.

Ride height, boots and settling (Sep 2026 thread). Victor: the stock X80 front spring is about 380 mm free height, not 400 25; the Suffix SZ1303 is also 380 mm, and the one-piece (not two-part) GG-type dust boots (пыльники) add 10-15 mm 26. He says the stock front shock resembles the Mazda GH strut with a GG-style hose lug welded on, so the matching spring has GH parameters, but is the stiffest one 27. Olga fitted yellow reinforced Suffix SZ1303 springs and the front rose a lot — 470 mm — to the point that the car felt as if it would take off 2829; Che Guevara noted the group had blamed the double dust boot from Mazda 30. Settling claims disagree: Victor relays that the Suffix version with a 13 mm rod sags within one to two months according to Mazda owners 31, while Olga reported no sag after two months 32, and Arсhi 77 argued that mileage, not calendar time, decides whether springs settle 33. Victor measured her wire at 13.5 mm rather than 13 mm 34, supported by a caliper photo 35; his own 14 mm-rod Suffix ("too stiff") measured 460 mm right after fitting and 450 mm after settling 36. When reporting height, measure from the wheel centre to the arch, not from the floor, because owners run different tyre sizes 37.
