Lower control arm — brands and prices

Prices and suppliers on this page are Russian-market (RUB, at the dates shown). Verify locally before relying on them in Syria.
"Fork" (рычаг) assemblies from dismantlers: complete control-arm assemblies are available from vehicle dismantlers at reasonable cost (~500 RUB (RU market, September 2024) per part) and are reported to last 50,000+ km in normal use. FAW original cups, springs, and bushings are compatible as direct replacements after fitting a dismantler-sourced arm. After replacement, check suspension geometry 1.
Service pricing (Moscow, October 2024): lower control arm work with a new seal, plus pneumatic-spring replacement, plus silentblock installation totaled 5,200 RUB (RU market, October 2024). One shop separately charged 800 RUB (RU market, October 2024) just for removing and reinstalling the underbody protection plate — flagged by the community as a notable markup. Silentblocks are considered durable and worth replacing around 100,000 km as preventive maintenance 2.
Repeated lower control arm failures — silentblock bore mismatch: one owner reported replacing lower control arms 4 times over 256,000 km due to ball joint and silentblock failure (OEM pair first at 38,000 km, then a Volkswagen Jetta-sourced alternative at 20,000 km, a FAW alternative at 10,000 km, then a further swap at variable mileage). A critical fitment issue: the OEM silentblock bore is 40mm, but some aftermarket parts specify 42mm, causing fitment problems. The owner resolved this by sourcing polyurethane silentblocks for the Lynx/LinkS tie-rod attachment point. SH-brand lower control arms are noted as visually identical to the originals, with a matching silentblock fitment and the same nut design 3.
Rear suspension repair cost breakdown (Apr 2024, Russia): for a rear suspension job using all-new parts (alignment bolts were reusable): 2x bent rear control arms — 3,000 RUB; 2x rear longitudinal-arm bushings — 2,200 RUB; 2x rear cross-member bushings — 4,800 RUB. Springs were priced separately and not included in this total 4.
Rear bushings and dampers — no clear best brand (low confidence): one general discussion about which rear suspension bushing/damper brand is "best" concluded there is no single winner — quality varies significantly by supplier, and it's a cost-vs-quality tradeoff. Original (OEM) parts are considered the most reliable option but cost more 5.
Bent rear control arm — replacement cost (Oct 2025): a rear control arm bent after being hit from the side; replacement quoted at 2,000–2,500 RUB (RU market, October 2025) 678.
Used Mazda 6 GG front forks (control arms) — market prices: used Mazda 6 GG front forks/vanes (передние вилки), sold in good/restored condition, list for 1,700–2,000₽ per pair depending on seller and restoration work done (Avito/group marketplace, June 2026) 9101112.
Bushing brand reliability — CTR holds up, cheap Zekkert fails early, Sufix squeaks dry: CTR-brand suspension bushings tested to 20,000 km with no problems reported. Cheaper Zekkert bushings failed earlier (both ball-joint and bushing wear reported at lower mileage). Sufix bushings are available too but come with reports of squeaking in dry weather 131415.
Suspension component durability — Chinese analogs fail fast, OEM/Kayaba much better (long-term report): a detailed long-term comparison from one owner (Олег Белоусов): Chinese aftermarket brands referred to in the community as "Ситиер"/"Митиер" ("Sitier"/"Mitier") — covering ball joints, arm bushings, and related suspension bushings — are reported as poor quality across the board. His upper control arms: OEM lasted 190,000 km before the ball joints needed checking (ball joints outlived the bushings, which failed first); a Sitier-brand replacement arm failed at both ball joints after only ~1,000 km. His lower control arms: also fitted with "Mitier"/"Sitier"-brand arms, which lasted 70,000 km versus 160,000 km for the OEM arms. Tie-rod ends: OEM lasted 230,000+ km with only slight play developing by hand; a Sitier-brand pair felt suspiciously lighter than OEM on arrival and had not yet been road-tested at the time of reporting. Recommendation from this owner: avoid the cheap Chinese analog brands for suspension components generally and order OEM/original parts where possible 16. In a follow-up voice note, the same owner clarified specifically for the upper control arm ball joints: if the OEM arm is still fitted, it is usually the bushings that fail first while the ball joint stays serviceable — in that case replace only the bushings. If the ball joint itself has failed (developed play), look specifically for a Kayaba ball joint (sold separately) — reported as genuinely good quality — but Kayaba suspension parts for this application went out of production roughly a year prior to this report and are now hard to find 17.
Front lower control arm brand comparison — budget Zekkert fails fast, CTR holds up (Aug 2026): continuing the same 160,000 km durability conversation covered on the rear trailing arm bushing card (that card documents the rear-side half of this exchange), owner Arсhi 77 described his front lower control-arm history at that mileage: bushings only at first, then a full-arm replacement once the ball joint also started failing. A first, cheap complete arm assembly did not last long on his roads; a second, pricier arm has held up fine so far. Asked to identify the brands: the cheap one was Zekkert; the durable one, after checking, was CTR. In the same exchange, a full front lower control arm in assembly was quoted at roughly 3,000 RUB (RU market, August 2026) for the part alone, with labor to fit it around 1,500 RUB — a separate voice in the thread argued this is poor value compared to a bushing-only job at 700–1,000 RUB, calling the arm-replacement pricing a rip-off 18192021.
