Lower control arm bushings — sourcing

Overview. The front lower control arm (FAW part number FC0134J00) is sold only as a complete assembly; bushings can be pressed out and replaced with Mazda 6 GG or aftermarket units, but their bore dimensions must be matched, and the rear arms use similar bushings. The X80 chassis derives from the Mazda 6 GG, so many parts cross-fit. The detailed numbers, sizes, prices and procedures, each with its own sources, are in the cards listed at the end; this card keeps the symptom and diagnosis notes.

Lower ball joint squeak — same "replace the whole arm" rule applies: a loud squeak when turning the wheel to full lock (either direction) was diagnosed as worn lower ball joints on the front suspension — consistent with the sourcing cards linked below, the ball joint and its bushings are sold only as part of the complete lower control arm assembly, not separately; attempting to restore worn ball-joint rods is not considered economical 1.

Rear cross-member sideblock deterioration — how to assess severity: rear suspension sideblocks (silentblocks) commonly show some deterioration: slight peeling/separation at the edges is considered cosmetic and not urgent (it results from direct environmental/corrosion exposure, not structural failure). It becomes a real concern only if cracks appear near the center of the bushing, or if the separation reaches the main bonded area. At around 91,000 km, a full sideblock inspection is recommended as part of a general suspension refresh; Mazda sideblocks are sometimes used as a substitute but compatibility should be verified first 2.

Bent lower control arm causes steering non-return and alignment problems — replace and realign with X80 specs: a bent front lower control arm (передний нижний рычаг — the straight rod) causes the steering wheel not to return to center and throws off alignment. Diagnosis is by visual inspection from underneath or a video inspection. Fix: replace the bent arm with a new part, then perform a wheel alignment using X80-specific parameters — X80 alignment values differ from Mazda's and require a technician who actually knows this, not just a Mazda-6 alignment profile. (See the wheel alignment card for the broader steering-return/alignment symptom and parameter-source debate.) 34567.

Lower arm bushing wear at 210,000 km caused fender damage: at 210,000 km, lower control arm bushings showed significant wear with vertical play, letting the front-left wheel shift forward and damage the fender. Early warning sign: abnormal wear patterns in the wheel-well area — worth checking before it progresses to contact damage 89101112.

Caution — rough running/engine bucking after suspension work can be an air-intake leak, not an engine fault: if the engine starts pinning/bucking or running rough right after rear suspension work, don't assume it's an engine problem first — check for an air-intake leak caused incidentally during the suspension job (e.g. a disturbed hose/clamp near the intake). Locate and reseal any intake leaks before further diagnosis 1314.
